“True giving from the heart is an expression of love”
– Cara Stein
While April 1st is known to be a day for pranks and jokes, HAPI-Sorsogon made it their mission to do the opposite by bringing genuine hope and love to their community through a nutritious meal.
The chapter’s officers and volunteers conducted a successful feeding program attended by over 100 children from Brgy. Leona Pilar, Sorsogon. They enjoyed a delightful bowl of sopas (chicken macaroni) and drinks.
Nica Asilo, social media manager of HAPI-Sorsogon, emphasised the organisation’s willingness to help this community. “We would like to help those children at Leona Pilar,” she said. “Those [who are] malnourished and even not malnourished, we want them to know that HAPI Sorsogon exists.”
Asilo was grateful to Janice Buenaventura, Chapter Lead Convenor, for seeing the potential of the community and agreeing to do it, as well as the event’s sponsors.
The activity would not have been successful without the generosity of GO Humanity, which tirelessly supports HAPI as part of its food security program.
The efforts Ms. Venus Olazo, Brgy. Health Worker Michelle Literal, and the youth and officials of Brgy. Leona Pilar were also critical in accomplishing this event.
Asilo described the satisfaction and happiness she felt knowing her chapter helped 100 kids during the event. “Seeing them, the smiles on their faces [brought] us such fulfilment.”
When asked about future projects like this by HAPI-Sorsogon, Asilo excitedly claimed that there are already plans for upcoming events and proposals for the community.
This event is an example of showing up for the community and restoring hope and dreams among future generations.
