HAPI Nutricamp with NUGEN
7c, Ilaya Street, Alabang

July 7, 2019
It’s another NUTRICAMP event by Humanist Alliance Philippines, International, and this time, teamed-up with NUGEN Entrepreneurs.
NUGEN Entrepreneurs
This is a group of entrepreneurs based in Makati and Quezon. Most of the volunteers are composed of young couples who want to take part in community development events such as feeding programs. They learned about HAPI and found out about our feeding program through our website. So there goes the collaboration.
Kids already assembled themselves at the community’s basketball court as early as 7:30 AM. They waited eagerly for the volunteers to come that even some of shouted in chorus to greet me, “uyyy si kuya AJ andyan na!”
Then just a few minutes later, the 19 NUGEN volunteers arrived with boxes of goodies for kids.
Kids are hungry
Jaime and Jhing, our resident Alabang volunteers, instructed the kids to bring their own food container, so as to avoid the use of single plastic and styro plates. Meals stubs were also provided a day prior to the event so to manage the number.
We started program with the introduction of volunteers and a short opening message from NUGEN Volunteers. Then the volunteers facilitated the small talks, games, cheering chant, and special numbers from kids. So we sorted them out into different groups with their assigned leaders to rehearse their chant and song number.
After the fun games and mini cheering competition, we asked the kids to fall in one line to get their lunch. The volunteers distributed thew packed food and the home-cooked spaghetti. About 150 kids were able enjoy the food- food made extra nutritious by packets of NUGEN supplements. Also, 108 received loot-bags with school stuff inside served as giveaways shared equally by participants.
