HAPI-Northern Mindanao Youth Join Local Barangay Assembly

HAPI-Northern Mindanao members participated in the First Semester Barangay General Assembly in Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental last March 27. A Barangay General Assembly is a gathering of barangay denizens wherein barangay officials get the opportunity to directly report their accomplishments from the previous year up to the present. In addition, it is vital to the barangay officials and to their constituents that this activity will be conducted in order to form a bond with one another and to make sure that the elected officials are doing their job.

The barangay officials are mandated to conduct the General Assembly at least twice a year. HAPI-Northern Mindanao’s participation during the activity is particularly exciting since the members – comprised mostly of the youth sector – are less privileged in terms of voicing out their concerns in barangay matters which of course eventually affects everyone.

The activity was successful and HAPI-Northern Mindanao members were satisfied with the report of the barangay officials, including one of their promised projects like the Water System Level III which is now starting its construction of water pipelines that would lessen the problem of barangay residents and which will provide potable water throughout the barangay as well as other matters that would help the barangay and the city as a whole become better, healthier, and safer.
