Good afternoon, fellow humanists! An Afternoon delight!
‘An afternoon delight’, this sounds like as catchy subheading, but this has nothing to do with the song by Starland Vocal Band, The Afternoon Delight. This afternoon delight actually refers to the fifth and sixth instalments of HAPI Cebu’s PWD feeding. We were not able to do any feeding event in February since Ms. M’s sister went on a vacation in Taiwan, so we had to push it to the first week of March.
AFTERNOON THIS TIME
For the past few months our recipients for the feeding have been always the students from the morning classes. So Agustina Torres, Ms. M’s sister, decided that we give the afternoon classes students their shot of the free food, thus, the afternoon delight.
This feeding this is not just for one time; there were two feeding events inside the month of March!
The first one was on the first day of March, what better way to open this month than feeding children? We were able to feed about 75 students, all from the second floor of Consolacion Central SPED Center. We fed them with the all time children’s favorite: Jollibee!
ROUND TWO!
The second wave of afternoon feeding took place on March 27th, this time, the first floor students. For a change, we decided to give them some native Bisaya sweet treats. Some home-made sweet treats will give them a pack of energy for the whole afternoon.
Different food, different students, but the same outcome: happy children!
Giving up your siesta time for the needy children is all worth it; I feel more recharged and just pure delight.
