HAPI-Dumaguete concluded its first leadership and team-building sessions last August 26-28, 2022 featuring Ms. Jong Poblador as the resource speaker.
The first day tackled “Adapting to Changes and Leading with Empathy” – an essential topic as the chapter slowly gets back on track in the wake of the pandemic lockdowns. Jong emphasized that in being part of a team, one should always be ready to adapt to change, or else it can never progress and will remain stagnant. With change, she said, one should also empathize with the other person’s story and for that to happen, proper communication should exist.
Continuing to engage the members with an idea-inciting conversation, the topic for the second day was the first of a two-part topic called “Forming a Team.” Miss Jong focused on the mission, vision, and goals of each team member as part of a community in HAPI-Duma and discussed that it is important for us to know what our purpose is in joining groups, as this will also be a drive for us to move forward.
On the third and final day (and after two days of virtual meetings), the discussion was done face-to-face with the second part of “Forming a Team.” The conversation was held in Dumaguete City with the chapter’s members attending for talks and food.
This initiative was one of many to come as the chapter focuses on engaging and educating its members for more fruitful events in the future.
