My First Volunteering Experience in Bulacan

Along with my parents and my auntie Mutya (HAPI CFO Mutya Valenzuela), I visited Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan, last November 10 to donate some candies, toys, and pre-loved clothes to the Dumagat tribe.

The day before, we prepared the donations by packing all the candies. We packed each of them equally so everyone could get the same amount of food and candies. On top of that, we organized all the pre-loved clothes that were usable. We woke up early in the morning to freshen up before making our way to their residence. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the Dumagat children with wide smiles. It made me realise that they were excited to see us! Though it was my first time to come there myself, HAPI had already helped the Dumagat tribe before. As a group, they truly need help in hard times as they are rarely visited by other philanthropic organisations.

The kids were thrilled to receive the donations that we gave; it made me realise how meaningful it was to them. Part of the reason why I joined the journey is that I was curious why my auntie does all of this work. Now, I have concluded that the work she has done helps people in need. I am very happy to witness and be part of this journey as it is an experience I will carry with me when I grow up.
