Let’s give ourselves a pat on the back for getting out a HAPI book like this. Haven’t seen a book like this written and published in the Philippines before. We must have patience- the initial reaction of most believers will be “devils”. In the exemption for the very few believers who can contemplate positions that are deeply and emotionally inconsistent.
It will take years or maybe even decades for Filipinos to be calm about views that disagree with their faith, as are Europeans.
But this is one of the early and necessary substantial steps to remove the prevailing mental bias against reason.

This great little HAPI book is choc-a-block full of interesting and very absorbing stories about the contributor’s journey “from Superstition to Reason”. The atheists, humanists, and freethinkers in the Philippines are amongst the most respected of groups in my mind, not quite up there with ex-Muslims, but close.
The saturation of religion throughout Filipino society and the immense societal pressure to conform from family, friends and community elders make any expression of secular thought very difficult. It must take much courage for anyone to break out. I highly recommended this book to everyone. Filipino or not. Especially to those who are thinking about embarking on such a journey as it will provide much sought after support and encouragement.
