The Humanist Alliance of the Philippines, International (HAPI) is currently planning another HAPI event in the Philippines for next year. Our organization is planning not just one event for October next year but three! Yup, TRIPLE HAPI EVENT on October 2018 in conjunction with Bacolod City’s annual Masskara Festival.

Bacolod, dubbed as the “city of smiles” will be in the spotlight next October for HAPI. It is also a welcoming and warm place where most of our officers live and work. Pretty much,  a time for them to shine and show off their leadership and organizational skills.

It is known as the City of Smiles because of its Masskara Festival, a Mardi Gras-like festival and a spectacularly vivid mix of dance, color, and music. Bacolod is also known as the Land of Sweet People for its culinary heritage. Here are a few of the city’s must-try foods:

• inasal (roasted chicken on skewers)
• cansi
• piyaya
• barquillos
• napoleones
• meringue
• broas

Bacolod City is a highly urbanized city in the Philippines and  is the capital city of Negros Occidental province. The native dialect in the city is Hiligaynon and Ilonggo,  like in Iloilo.

Tourist spots abound in Bacolod City and Negros Island like the Ruins, Campuestohan Resort, and Lakawon Beach resort, which I have visited, just to name a few.

I am looking forward to seeing these new officers shine like my children in humanism. So I am banking at these kids because they are our future. Maybe I will no longer be here in 20 or 30 years from now, but our legacy will continue.
