Embers by Rekindle PH 2018

Rekindle PH started 2018 by joining Art’s Month Celebration of Tippy’s and Weego Bistro. Embers by Rekindle PH was held on the 10th of February at Tippy’s.  The very first event and the start of a busy year were jam-packed with awesome talents!

The event’s first performer was Cali Island, a well-known local reggae band. Their act was then followed by Rekindle PH’s first recipient of the Fire Stater Project, Tara Walker. It was then followed by Martin Miravalles of The Gut Feel who performed the team’s favorite song Itot Blues.

After a short break from the first set of talents, Rekindle PH introduced the first official Rekindle PH drink, called The Ember. The cocktail drink was made by Rhon Marañon Solina, Rekindle PH’s guest bartender for the event. The vodka-based peach-flavored cocktail is only available during Rekindle PH events.

For Red Lights took over the stage after introducing the official drink. For Red Lights is a local pop-punk band who made the audience jump around with their covered songs. Believe it or not, Tippy’s had a mosh pit for a few minutes!

After the rocking performance from For Red Lights, Hans Christian Labayen serenaded the audience with his breezy voice and chill ambiance. His act was then followed by Benjo Ballados a.k.a Papa Benjo who also sang love songs and topped his act with his poem, “Paa, Tuhod, Balika’t, Ulo”. Thanks to John Jerick Bersamin who made the piece even more dramatic by playing the guitar background.

Sabad, a local alternative rock band spiced things up after Benjo Ballados left them with hearts in their eyes. Sabad started performing during Embers 2018 after they were invited to play at Lungkotan Sessions, a collab event of Rekindle PH and Cuts Deep Studios. Sabad was one of the bands to open SUD’s concert in North Point Ayala.

The next artsonist to perform was Kent Rianne Perez, who made the audience cheer while she performed her piece “Nimpa”. Kent Rianne a.k.a Rekindle PH’s Kathryn Bernardo has been performing since early last year. She started as an open-mic performer for on of Rekindle Ph’s event.

Hermz Gacho of the Three Little Birds Comedy Collective also performed “Damgohanon” and “Ang Lima Ka Kamatuoran Suno Kay…”  for Embers 2018.  He was followed by Ayem Tabucao, the first open-mic performer for Embers 2018. Ayem, a storyteller, shared a piece of her experience on one social media platform.

The night was capped off by Lost Lonely Boys. Lost Lonely Boys had their first performance for Rekindle PH at Embers 2018.
