Before the year ends, the Humanist Alliance of the Philippines, International (HAPI) helped organize another successful event called the Act of Random Kindness (ARK) Project. Approximately 200 people attended both the morning and afternoon events of the project. The morning event was for the rural community in Talisay City for 70 children. In the afternoon event, 60 children were gathered from a community in Bacolod City. Over 100 generous people, together with different local companies, sponsored 130 children who belong to the un different communities in Negros Occidental. The event proves that many things can be done when people work together towards a common goal.
Kindness Begets Kindness
Our Founder, Marissa Torres Langseth, always utters these words to remind everyone to be kind to one another. HAPI generously sponsored the food for the children through a major fast food chain in the country, Jollibee. The children enjoyed their lunch of a juicy fried chicken paired with rice. It is the first time for some of the children to eat and enjoy the iconic chickenjoy that many Filipinos and even foreigners love.
Jollibee’s lovable mascot entertained the children through a dance performance. Some of the children happily danced together with the mascot too. To see the children happily dancing and having so much fun that day was a truly rewarding experience.
Smiles of Hope
The children also participated in activities which they really enjoyed. Despite having so little in life, the children are still full of hope. The ARK Project aims to cultivate the seeds of kindness and hope in these children so that they may pass it on someday.
Gratitude From The Children
At the end of the event, the children did a short presentation as gratitude for the very fun day and for the kindness that they received that day. We hope that most of them will remember the wonderful day that they had through the Act of Random Kindness Project.
