Alabang, Muntinlupa
September 21, 2019
This is a day to remember, Jamie del Rosario Martinez, a superwoman, decided to celebrate her birthday with HAPI kids in a community in Alabang, Muntinlupa. Alabang kids fondly call Jamie “Momshie”. She has been the project manager of Kids Nutrition Campaign since 2014.
It’s Jamie’s Birthday
What better way to celebrate your birthday than spending it to support an advocacy close to your heart? No better way to celebrate birthdays than to commit special acts of goodness. That’s how Jamie preferred to spend her birthday. The program started at 10 AM with some of Jamie’s friends from RG Community, who extended their help in setting up the tent, tables, and chairs. RG Community friends kicked off with a short lecture on “Safety on the Streets.” Then HAPI Executive Director, AJ Ballares followed it up with “Seeds of Humanism.” These two lectures are to reintroduce the education component back in our feeding events.
Feeding of over a Hundred
So everybody’s hungry now, time to eat. We invited the kids, in two batches, to come over and feast on the food prepared for them. Over a hundred kids were able to participate in a boodle fight. In case you don’t know what boodle fight is, it’s not an actual fight, but a style of eating in which food, piled on top of banana leaves on a long table, and will be shared by all participants with bare hands.
HAPI’s Presence
HAPI has been making impact in this community since 2014. In fact, everyone in the community knows about HAPI. We want to further take the impact that we make to the next level by making sure that HAPI Kids are fed with life-changing seeds of humanism, too. It is our goal to maximise this opportunity to create an impact in the society. We are doing it one step at a time. Our newly opened headquarters is so accessible, less than hour drive away from Alabang. So that means we can readily extend help in that community whenever Jamie needs it. That, I think, is the best gift that we can give to her.
