Another international feat!
The HAPI Scholars are in demand, going international yet again! I am proud to announce that soon, two of the HAPI Scholars will join the Youth Committee of Humanist Global Charity (HGC), an internationally acclaimed organization. Without a doubt, this is something to be proud of! Another HAPI feat!
Here is how it happened: out of the blue last Thanksgiving, I received an email from Hank Pellissier, Humanist Global Charity Founder. He mentioned that he needed some young humanists to join a newly minted committee called the Humanist Youth Committee as part of his growing society.
HGC, based in California, USA, is a not-for-profit, non-religious organization doing charity all over the world, specifically in impoverished countries like Africa, India, and the Philippines.
Hank’s task was a no-brainer for me. Being the HAPI Founder and the HAPI Scholars creator, I was able to refer two Scholars instantaneously.
Glemir
The first one is Glemir Sordilla. She just turned 20 years old but she has been my scholar since she was 17! Glemir is a journalist, activist, and a free-spirited youngster who opened to her parents that she is no longer a God-worshipper. She is one of the HAPI website’s most prolific contributors. Having taken creative writing, this girl is a stellar journalist! She is also an honor student in her class.
Joshua
The other HAPI representative is 19-year-old Joshua Ofiasa Villalobos, a fearless, nationally acclaimed environmentalist and human rights activist. Joshua is very intelligent, having been named the number one student out of a class of 1000. Active online and offline, he is a no-nonsense human rights activist.
His remarkable work includes becoming a speaker for many seminars in the Philippines which covered topics like equality for the LGBTQ+ community, climate change, and most recently, the Philippine elections.
