World Children’s Day was established in 1954 to promote international togetherness among children worldwide and improve their welfare. This day gives each of us an opening wedge to advocate, promote, and celebrate children’s rights.

Recently, HAPI-Bulacan has done exactly that by igniting Filipino children’s hope. On the bright afternoon of 21st November, the Chapter continued its pursuit of inspiring the future generation by giving them healthy snacks courtesy of Foundation Beyond Belief’s Food Security Grant and colorful pre-loved clothes from Ms. Amanda Chen. Not only did the kids have the time of their lives but their hard-working parents were also there eating and receiving clothes.

In addition, HAPI CEO Javan Lev Poblador was also present to guide, teach, and spend time with the children. He prepared an interactive activity where the kids were able to learn the art of color theory and how to express their creativity through various hues.

“It was a lot of fun having to teach kids about the basics of colors. There was never a dull moment with them, and I find the whole experience really enjoyable,” Poblador said, reminiscing his personal experience of being the children’s teacher that day.

He further stated that soon, HAPI hopes to have the chance to take things up a notch with another enlightening activity. The HAPI CEO expressed his gratitude over the fact that despite the pandemic, the organization still had the opportunity to make learning fun and safe for the kids.

HAPI-Bulacan has always been diligent and tirelessly working to invest their time in showing us that there is hope for the future generation. They offer their sincerest appreciation to FBBN’s Food Security Bank and Ms. Amanda Chen for their trust and selfless character. Donations and help from them made these events a resounding success.

When Nelson Mandela launched the Children’s Fund in South Africa back in 1995, he famously said “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” This is a reminder for us to invest and protect the next generation and to make sure they are not exposed to harmful things that can stunt their growth as individuals. How we treat our children is a reflection of who we are as humanity.

That last part also serves as a motivating factor for HAPI in highlighting the capabilities and sheer potential of the next generation. The opportunity to extend a helping hand on World Children’s Day was something it could not pass up.
