HAPI Learners to Leaders: Nurturing the Next Generation of Humanists

The HAPI-Bulacan Chapter launched the HAPI-Bulacan Youth Group at the HAPI Headquarters last February 1, marking a significant step in HAPI’s mission to promote humanist values among young individuals.

The event included the election of the group’s first set of officers, many of whom have been part of the HAPI community since their childhood; some began their journey as regular attendees of the HAPI Reading Room, where they spent weekends learning and engaging in humanist discussions and scientific lessons. Now, they have taken on leadership roles, eager to advocate for humanism and inspire others.

These young leaders have transitioned from curious learners to active mentors and advocates. Some now serve as guiding figures for others to look up to, while others mentor younger members, passing on the knowledge and principles they have gained over the years. Their journey highlights the impact of long-term humanist education and engagement.

Over the years, the HAPI Reading Room has not only served as an educational hub for the kids but also as a foundation for character building. The children who once flipped through books and participated in creative discussions are now the very individuals stepping up to continue the mission of HAPI. This natural progression showcases the effectiveness of sustained humanist education—an investment in the future of ethical leadership.

“Watching them grow and apply the values they learned from HAPI in their daily lives is something I am truly proud of,” said HAPI CFO Mutya Valenzuela, who originally proposed the addition of the HAPI Reading Room.

By providing a space for intellectual growth and social responsibility, HAPI has created an environment where young minds are encouraged to question, learn, and apply humanist principles in their daily lives. The HAPI-Bulacan Youth Group stands as a beacon of this growth. By taking on leadership roles, these young individuals are not only honing their personal skills but are also becoming role models for the next generation. They demonstrate that youth empowerment leads to tangible change, as they embark on projects that promote education, environmental sustainability, and humanist advocacy.

This milestone marks a proud moment for HAPI, as the organization sees the youth stepping up to carry forward its mission. With their fresh ideas, these young leaders are poised to make a lasting impact, ensuring that humanist values remain relevant and influential in their communities.
