Alliance Philippines, International (HAPI) ended the year with goodwill
by funding a feeding program for the poor. Spearheaded by Jamie del
Rosario Martinez and accompanied by HAPI Head of Creative Team Mike
Rivero, the program successfully fed a ballpark figure of 200 kids.By
contributing solutions in eliminating hunger caused by extreme poverty,
HAPI ended up making a difference to the poor in this manner. The
following photographs show further proof of the goodwill shared as the
year closed.
Martinez
heard President Benigno Aquino III’s speech in 2010 commanding the
Filipino people to do good even in just one small community. She has
since embarked on a commitment to help people — children, most
especially.
She
started by cleaning the drainages in her community every week and
posted pictures on Facebook to elevate awareness and influence as many
young people to do the same.
Martinez
shifted from cleaning the community to feeding children after a friend
asked her to do so. Since then, she has consistently been doing feeding
programs for every sufficient amount of cash donation.
“Tuluy-tuloy
na ‘yun [feeding program] hanggang dumating ‘yung ‘Pasko ng Kabataan:
Year 1’, dumami pa ‘yung tumulong kaya ‘yung dating 30 na bata naging
mahigit 200 na.”
[The
feeding program has since continued until Pasko ng Kabataan: Year 1,
the number of volunteers have multiplied, so did the number of children
to be fed which has risen from 30 to over 200.]
Jamie del Rosario Martinez- Project Implementer |
Chairwoman Marissa Torres Langseth is happy to know that the event went
very well and expressed her deepest gratitude through a Facebook post.
“Being
with children who cannot repay you. Children who have so little and
feeding them means so much to them already — that is HAPI-ness[sic],”
she wrote.
This activity is funded personally by HAPI through Ms. M and Rivero.
On obtaining the trust of the Chairwoman, Martinez told, “Sobrang
happy po [ako] kasi alam naman natin na napakahirap makuha ang tiwala
galing sa tao na never pa natin nakita personally. Kaya no’ng sinabi ni
Ms. M na nakuha ko tiwala niya, super happy po ako at syempre proud.”
[I’m
so happy because we all know that it is difficult to obtain the trust
of people whom we never met personally. So when Ms. M said I gained her
trust, I was so happy and, of course, proud.]
“‘Yan
lang po kasi ang kayamanan ko, ang tiwala ng mga taong taos pusong
tumutulong sa mga batang para ko na ‘ring anak. Kung hindi dahil sa
tulong n’yong lahat, ‘di ko po magagawa lahat ito. Napakaraming salamat
po,” she added.
[Because
that’s my only wealth, the trust of the people who wholeheartedly help
the young ones whom I treat as my own children. If it were not because
of all your help, I could never do all of these. Many many thanks.]
