Bacolod City, Negros Occidental
October 10, 2018
MassKara Festival is one of the best things you can encounter and experience in the City of Smiles, Bacolod. This celebration almost last about a month. This year it officially started last October 8 and will end at the 28th.
Along with the number of tourists, it is also expected that festivals as huge as this will bring a horde of garbage on our streets and festival sites. The youth of Bacolod, who are the one suffering from irresponsibilities and inhumane behavior of these irresponsible tourists and locals through floods and eyesores on the streets initiated a call for action.
Humanist Alliance Philippines, International Junior is one of the 30 local and national youth organizations calling for a cleaner MassKara Festival and a responsible tourism.
In a statement headed by Linghod, a local youth environmental organization in Bacolod, it calls the attention of everyone to make efforts and to raise awareness on how to celebrate a less-waste festival or atleast, properly dispose their garbages.
Also, the different youth groups called the attention of big companies sponsoring the festival to responsibly take care of the wastes and garbages right after the celebration.Because most of the time, these big corporations just leave their “banderitas” or buntings hunged on the streets of Bacolod.
The youth of Bacolod addressed the citizens to be in solidarity and show support in this cause that will definitely benefit everyone.
