This November 26, 2016 from 1:00 – 7:00 pm at the Pearl Manila Hotel located in Taft-UN Avenue, Manila city, Will Davidson, MA, LMHC, will be conducting a lecture on “Existential Angst and Depression : Meaning and the Satisfying Life”.

According to him, ‘one of the criticisms of Atheism is that a life without belief in the supernatural is a life without meaning.’ He will be presenting the case that not only is this criticism mistaken but that the exact opposite is true – that belief in the supernatural is an obstacle to meaning.

In order to do this, he will argue that meaning is derived from our subjectively perceived connections to nature, other people and our own bodies.

He will discuss objective sources of meaning and will identify obstacles to experiencing meaning and how this relates to mental health.

Lastly, he will present his Theory of Existential Angst and explain in psychological terms why it exists and what can be done to reduce its impact on functioning.

He was recently interviewed on WCCA TV by Ramona Pokoly concerning Childhood Anxiety.

“Since this is something that I have always been interested in and have struggled to resolve over my lifetime, I am happy to talk about my findings in a psychological context.”

Mr. Davidson is a Humanist Celebrant with a BA in Psychology, Summa Cum Laude, from Clark University, a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Assumption College with a concentration in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in private practice in Massachusetts, USA.
He is a longtime member of the American Humanist Association (AHA) and Greater Worcester Humanists (GWH), and founded the Worcester Atheist group in 2007.

His father was stationed in Clark Air Force base and spent the first 3 years of his life in the Philippines. According to him, this granted him a “special connection to the Philippines.”
