About the Asian Humanism Conference
The Asian Humanism Conference is an annual meeting of humanist youth in Asia. Its twofold goals are to help build connections between people and humanist organizations in the region, and to offer training on skills and capacity building to help make groups more effective in the work as humanists. Past conferences have been held in Cebu, Nepal, Singapore, and Taiwan.
About the Theme
This 2017, the Asian Humanism Conference returns to the Philippines with the theme “Game Changers” – a nod to this year’s speakers, and to the revolutionary nature of humanism: a movement borne out of the widespread demand for an alternative ethos to dogmatic religion.
The Humanist Alliance of the Philippines, International (HAPI), in partnership with the International Humanist and Ethical Youth Organisation (IHEYO) will be conducting the 2017 Asian Humanist Conference on 10-11 June, 2017, in The Bayleaf Intramuros, Manila, Philippines.
About the hosts/Sponsors
The conference’s main sponsors are the International Humanists and Ethical Youth Organization(IHEYO), the youth branch of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU). IHEYO is an umbrella organization that creates links between young humanists throughout the world and The Humanist Alliance Philippines, International (HAPI), being their very first convention in the Philippines.
The local host will be the Humanist Alliance Philippines, International (HAPI), a non-stock, non-profit organization of progressive secular humanists from all over the world, working on an international basis but with primary focus on the Philippines as the beneficiary of its services. It functions as an agent of free secular education for all, irrespective of their social status/background, through intelligent discussions and conferences.
One of HAPI’s mandates is encouraging critical thinking by creating multiple platforms of learning for the Filipino youth, through educational and academic-oriented conferences and workshops. These educational platforms are envisioned to cultivate innovative ideas, as well as enhance skills in debate, research, and other valuable scholastic aptitudes that are instrumental to the personal and professional growth of the youth.
