HAPI Bacolod, along with the Youth Empowering Youth Initiative and San Agustin Red Cross successfully conducted Batch 4 of Project ULIKID: Ang Pag-Amlig sa Tunga sang Katalagman this past February.

Teachers and staff from Julio Mapa Elementary School, Talisay City, Negros Occidental expressed gratitude as they received reams of bond papers, and bottles of printer ink, resources to help them produce modules for the elementary students of the community.

On February 12, Eldemar Sabete of HAPI Bacolod represented the cause with YEY! Katipon Chairperson Coleen Awit and YEY! Environmental Committee Head Yna Arcenas (who also coordinated the project), ensuring that Batch 4 was successful. The trio traveled nearly one hour from Bacolod City to the school in Silay City. Despite being tired after the long ride, seeing the teachers’ facial reactions of happiness at their arrival and the donations made it worth it, according to Sabete.

The ULIKID Project was envisioned as an educational drive that gave out resources for student’s learning materials and extended help for underequipped schools in Negros Occidental. The organizers plan to brainstorm more ideas on how they could upgrade the project to be much more effective and educational.
