On Feb 23 2019, on a hot and humid day, at 3:00 afternoon in 7-c Alabang, Muntinlupa city, approximately one hundred children gathered and were excited for another HAPI Kids Nutri Camp event, this time it is a HAPI kids savings plan. Our objective is to save for the future, and teach some good manners and right conduct, such as frugality or buying only what is necessary. It was also an event to stress out environmental conservation and ways to make our planet better.
A regular monthly event which started in 2014, Ate Jamie Martinez lead convener, taught the importance of environmental conservation and the huge impact of waste and its destruction to the environment, at the same time pointing out the importance of saving money to meet the needs of the people. She gave away a hundred piggy bank, but, the children needed to make five eco bricks in exchange for a piggy bank. The eco bricks were created by packing plastic waste in plastic bottles. It was very easy and exciting, even the parents of the children helped to make eco bricks. This bonding moment represents the parents and their children by working together. We have collected more than 400 pieces of eco bricks that we will use at the next Nutri Camp to make chairs available for children.
After the activity, the parents and children enjoyed eating unlimited spaghetti, lovingly cooked by Jamie Martinez and made everyone filled with happiness when the Nutri Camp ended that day. Children have learned how to care for our environment and children also learned how to raise money for the future.
Thanks to HAPI for continuing its assistance to Alabang, our humble community.
Together, we can make a difference, no matter what age we have.
I am 16 and in grade 10. I love playing with my friends, playing volleyball, singing and dancing.
Truly yours,
