Iron Ovaries: HAPI’s Tribute to Filipino Moms

Mothers are often the central pillars of their families, and yet as women, moms continue to face persistent inequality and injustice and bear the brunt of poverty.

To overcome poverty, women must be empowered. When women are able to improve their lives, they transfer these improvements to the lives of their children, families, and communities.

Casting their votes for the HAPI Bulacan Election of Assistant Lead Convenor, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Last February 13, we launched the first official HAPI Iron Ovaries event, where we discussed how HAPI can help them in raising their families and children. They shared their struggles by writing them on paper. Reading their stories made us realize that their concerns are the reality of life. After that, we held our first chapter election of officers. This will help us and them to make the chapter more effective. Then we gave the mothers the pampering that they needed.

Each mother received a special HAPI Kikay Kit with a note from the students of Korean International School Philippines.

They were also asked to write what concerns they want to discuss or how HAPI could help them and their family. The letters they gave us really surprised us, as these might be easy to solve for others but with the status of these mothers right now it was clear they needed truly professional help. Of course, we’re here to make that happen.

We would like to thank our dear donors, especially Christian Fajutagana, for making “Iron Ovaries” possible. Without your help and support, none of our advocacies would be successful.

Thank you also to our volunteers for helping us cook and keeping the whole event in order!
