HAPI November Meet Up

HAPI Bacolod team has been dubbed as the most active and most balanced chapter. Bacolod team has new projects that would involved individuals in middle school to help with the organization’s advocacy. Having fun is part of the process, taking things to the heart is still what the group has agreed upon.
Recently, HAPI Bacolod Chapter had their November meet up at Dojo Co-Living Space, last November 17, 2017 which was on a Saturday. It started with an individual introduction and what each of the attendees expects of the meeting and/or maybe of HAPI Bacolod. The attendees were the most active members of the chapter, the student government of Bata National High School led by their adviser, Mr. Roland Aposaga, and a few members of HAPI Bacolod that we rarely get to see.

Alvin then passed the imaginary microphone, or well, the floor to Rayd Espeja as he talked about HAPI Junior and what’s in this and what’s in it for the juniors that would like to join. First off, Rayd proposed to invite selected public high schools from the Negros region and conducting seminars or educational talks in their schools. Or probably just inviting them to Bacolod to discuss environmental issues such as the importance of clean-up drives, tree-planting projects, and educational talks such as the following:
• SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity)
• GAD (Gender and Development)
• HIV/ AIDS Awareness

After this, Jan Erik Villa, a.k.a J-rik, stepped in to talk about Rekindle PH. Now, this is why Bacolod is known for its regular activity: Rekindle PH, which is held once every two months and at times, the team gets invited by different establishments to hold a Rekindle-like event.

Now RekindlePH’s plan for 2018 is to conduct training for teenagers and this will be called as RekindlePH Junior, from hosting, talent search, public speaking, to the art of reasoning and conversational English. The team is willing to help improve student’s skills that may prove helpful in the future. As proposed by J-rik, students who would like to join are suggested to have a lead and have that lead look for a team that is composed of writers, poets, graphic designers or visual artists. This can be their very own team and will have a chance to get invited to future RekindlePH events wherein they can showcase their talents. Who says humanism through arts doesn’t work?

Finally, the discussion of HAPI’s 4th Anniversary (Yay!). This here is what we’re all looking forward to happening. The proposed place is Kikay’s beach which is located in Silay City. The date is to be discussed, but December 23 might be a good date for everyone. It will be an overnight event and students from different high schools might get invited, if the students want to go home in the afternoon, they are free to do so, staying over the night isn’t compulsory. It will a day and night activity of music, arts, discussion, and possibly planning for more events in the coming year by the members of HAPI Bacolod and the artsonists of Rekindle PH.
