COVID Relief Drive

COVID Relief Drive for the People

The COVID-19 and its variants have slowed down the economy of many nations. If not outright cripple them, the pandemic has caused untold damages to many communities. This is even more visible in the Philippines. Due to the rising cases of COVID-19, many Filipinos have lost their jobs and some have become homeless. Many families have had a hard time trying to earn money to feed their families. Through these trying times, fellow Filipinos and other organizations have sought to help those who were severely affected by COVID-19. One such organization is HAPI.

HAPI Dumaguete launched a project called “Project Cope,” which aimed to educate poor families of Barangay Candau-ay, Dumaguete City about COVID-19 precautionary safety measures and the COVID-19 vaccine. Beneficiaries also received food and hygiene essentials to protect themselves against COVID-19.

Members of HAPI got even more ambitious and organized a community pantry. The idea was that people in need could take as much as they need and those with resources to spare can donate whatever they can. HAPI was able to organize this in Zambales, Alabang, Sorsogon, and Cagayan de Oro.

With the rising cases of COVID-19 and its Delta Variant, many communities were subjected to the Enhanced Community Quarantine or ECQ The government, LGUs, and even NGOs are trying their best to help those in need but unfortunately, people in isolated communities would take longer to help due to how far they are. The COVID Relief Operations was created to help as many people as possible in the Province of Bulacan.

HAPI, with the help of Beyond Belief Network went to help the people in need in these desperate times. Despite numerous setbacks due to COVID restrictions, they were successful nonetheless. They were able to provide 75 packs of groceries and rice for families who were severely affected by the pandemic.

The HAPI organization managed to help hundreds of families in need of these supplies. The operation ended on September 14, in the Province of Bulacan. Though the operation has ended, HAPI still has other plans to help Filipino families in these trying times. These brave men and women, risk their lives not because of faith, but because they want to help. They give more importance to human lives rather than what they believe in, they show the true essence of humanism.
