HAPI Cebu chapter opens Brigada Eskwela week

BRIGADA ESKWELA. In
line with the goal of propagating
the humanist idea, establishing the
name of the organization, and
boosting the number and the
volunteerism of the members, the
HAPI Cebu chapter implemented
its first student-driven project
towards introducing the
organization to student leaders and
volunteers who can later on
become the active partners in
actualizing the organizational
goals. After thorough deliberation,
the chapter chose Mandaue City
Comprehensive National High
School (MCCNHS) as its first
recipient and partner in
introducing the humanist idea
among student leaders and
volunteers.

With the approval and support of the school administrators, the chapter led a school outreach
project entitled: HAPI JOINS BRIGADA SKWELA 2016, which mobilized both HAPI and
student volunteers in preparing the campus for the school year 2016-2017. The chapter launched
the activity on May 28, 2016 at the school’s Annex campus, two days ahead of the school’s
launching of it’s own brigada eskwela weeklong project.

The activity started with a small lecture
by one of the chapter leaders, Dominic Malazarte, about the the organization’s existence, mission
and vision, the humanist idea,
and volunteerism. The activity
proceeded with the day’s action
plan, an orientation of the
project’s coverage and the actual
implementation. With new HAPI
chapter volunteers and student
leaders expressing their
commitment to the organization,
the activity served as an avenue
for the members to acquaint and
discuss future humanist projects
and action plans for the chapter
while working hand-in-hand in
cleaning the area and repainting
the classrooms.

Birth of the HAPI student group

RIPPLE EFFECT.
Inspired by the organization’s initiative to
reach out to various
populations and the willingness
to traverse the human
differences, the student
leaders of MCCNHS
expressed their commitment
to amplify the volunteerism
in the organization’s future
activities. The participating
student leaders of the said
activity, mostly composed of
incoming Grade 9 students,
refer to themselves as the
HAPI-COMPRE (coined
after their schools’
moniker), as they eagerly
offer their partnership and
service for the success of
future projects.
